My laptop will not charge help please

I have a Dell Inspiron bought brand new in 2013.Itvworks fine if it's plugged in with or without battery. It has a solid white light but will not charge. Please help if u can. Thanks

You may well just need to replace the battery.

It could be a few things. I would start with the battery replacement as that can make it not register it as well.
