My mouse is clicking on things when I just hover over them, even though I'm not actually clicking the mouse.

I have an HP laptop computer, with Windows 10, Google Chrome browsers, and a cordless M185 Logitech mouse that uses one AA battery. Please tell me in step-by-step detail what I can do to fix this. I keep having to reboot my computer every 15-30 minutes. I don't know how to "upgrade my drivers" or get rid of a computer virus, which is what I think it is.

Have you tried using a different Mouse? Browser? You gotta narrow it down.

Sounds like the mouse, I'd try moving the receiver to a USB port that's as close as possible where you us the mouse. Install some fresh batteries.
If your PC in on the ground, Next time it freezes up try bringing the mouse close to the receiver and see if it works

Question from Parkhill40 : "Mouse or computer going haywire!"

My mouse sometimes goes crazy and everything that it hovers over it turns on even though I'm not clicking it. I have to turn off my computer to get it to stop. Please tell me what I can do to end this annoyance. Sometimes the computer goes crazy like that on it's own also and starts opening up and closing windows for no apparent reason.

What mouse is it?

USB mouse? unplug cable from pc, re-plug

Just a wireless mouse. Any advice would be appreciated, but I have read widely-conflicting advice on this on other websites.
