Well... It arrived today, A brand "new" used 5040. I was stringing
cat-5 when the doorbell rang, Plugged it in, turned it on and it
promptly did not work... .Got the numbers I needed from setup Came in to
this computer, logged into www.replaytv.com Registered it and "Signed"
the contract and it started to work (updated software and the like) But
It would not grab the TV guide. Took wife to eye doc, came home, pushed
and held for 10 seconds or so, and it worked, Got the TV listings and
even my wife has been able to figure out how to program it.

IT's hooke up in "Training" mode (On a seperate feed from the VCR and
feeding it's own monitor) Thus making sure she is comfortable with it
before I put it where it can mess up the VCR

So far. Very happy... New (Bigger) hd on the way

Now I'll need to know where to stuff the old HD (dual drive perhaps)

Wondering what I should ask when I sell 1 of them?

Well, 5040 were going for just under 200 w/o lifetime on E-bay (That
incldes shipping) so with, I'd add at least another 200

Add $300 to whatever the going price for one without activation is going
for on ebay - roughly $200 - for a total of $500. The Lifetime sub is
good for, well, a lifetime, so it doesn't depreciate.

I picked up a 5540 display unit w/o the original box for about $100 with
shipping. I guess if CA is not a real issue, it's a fair price.

Then add $299 to that for activation.

Depends... If you mean a 5040 Yes, good price

If you mean a 5504, No, it's not a good price, I got mine, new, and in
the box, from the brick and mortar place, for less before taxes (More after)
