My screen is busted but is there something else wrong?

I have a pressure crack on my new laptop screen, ASUS gl552vw-dh71 and have a new screen on order to replace it (it fell off the bed while I was asleep) But when I went to plug it into the hdmi to get some stuff done I get this.

Is there something else wrong?

does it show normally on the monitor before it loads into windows? what video cable are you using?

I've only tried hdmi, I was having trouble getting into to load on the screen instead of my laptop but when I booted up and closed the laptop cover it worked but that image is what I got

what video ports are on the laptop & monitor besides the hdmi?

It's a TV, so the standard TV fare hdmis and components. but just hdmi on laptop

try reseating the hdmi cable in both the tv & laptop. do you have a friend who has a hdmi monitor that you could use for testing purposes to see if still have that problem or not?

Yup that was it. I was too frustrated with the thought of having lost 1600 bucks on the laptop plus screen I didn't try my other hdmi cable and port. I'm in the middle of nowhere working on a salmon fishing lodge so I was feeling hopeless but level heads prevail. Cheers.
