my TV blew up

my 18 month old toshiba flat screen has just blown up and im thinking why not do away with a tv and get a big monitor and buy a freveiw usb hub thingy.what you think?

Please explain "blown up", often enough it's an easy enough repair that it can be performed with only basic soldering skills

the backlight has gone.i am now trying to get more than 120 quid out of Tesco and purchase a 1 years old 1000 quid TV for 200 quid so its should all come good.
