my VCR is hooked up to work on DVD slot leaving me to use componant to hook up my dvd player. now I just get black & white

A repair guy hooked up my VCR and DVD player separately to my TV. Now he put VCR in DVD slot and DVD Player is in component slot. But the DVD's I bought play in Black & White not colour. What happen?

Some TVs have a shared component-composite video input.
When that input is set incorrectly you will get black and white. Check the TV menu.
