They want to get the camera back because its part of history that never really got off the ground. Lunar landing was a greatest American hoax. NASA is just trying to protect its secrets. How can you take pictures on the moon and have no visible stars on a horizon, for one?

Soo, once when i worked for ace corp, as a technician, i was told by my manager at the time to keep a 3/4 inch drive socket set, as well as a 3/8 inch drive torque wrench... this was over 9 years ago, since then that manager has since passed....

so, is it my 3/4 inch drive socket set and 3/8 inch torque wrench, or is it ace corps, or is it the owner of that actual store who lost the store to the bank due to mis-management, or is it the managers families tools, or is it the current manager who recently bought one of the 7 wtores that disappeared due in part to his mis-management?

...

now multiply this by 4...

yes, it may have been a nasa/gvmt camera at one point 40 years ago, but really, whose is it now, and is it worth our tax dollars that will be wasted to say its the gvmnt's when its a useless camera at this point in time, and had he not came to trying to sell it no one would'a known.

[citation][nom]dread_cthulhu[/nom]Yeah... why the heck would they care about a camera????[/citation]
It's not really a camera, it's a small Decepticon, just needs a bit of Allspark and you have a 4th movie in the works.

Because only your eyes can, search before asking with a non-true information 🙂 it is all a big misunderstanding ahah but really search it

I agree with all the people that think NASA is making a big deal out of nothing.

I mean srsly, they have dumped hundreds of tons of space ship parts in scrap yards. Who cares about some 40 year old obsolete camera. Plus NASA itself is an organization founded on rocket designs taken from another country. So why do we even care? Focus on getting more plutonium for those space rovers and outbidding the Chinese. The camera is only worth 60- 80k. The lawsuit will cost them many times more than that.

[citation][nom]sseyler[/nom]I will certainly agree with you that NASA has problems with its budget, but you can't directly compare private space programs with NASA for the following reason: NASA still funds academic research through grants that provides the funds necessary for many professors (and graduate students) to do research in fields ranging from plasma physics to fluid dynamics.[/citation]

No to mention that NASA sends missions to other planets while private companies use technology NASA blazed the trail for, to get to LEO. NASA is not exactly worried about LEO. They have to outbid the Chinese RN for PU-239 and U-238

[citation][nom]dwave[/nom]Stealing is Stealing:You don't know who the camera belongs to yet so don't judge till the facts are in. He claims NASA gave it to him. If that is the case then the stupid thing does not belong in a museum.[/citation]

Yes, stealing is stealing, but he's disputing that. Thing is, I'm pretty sure the Statute of limitations is over. If it was stolen 40 years ago I think he can pretty well say, yea I stole it, what can you do about it now? Of course, I'm from Canada, and not a lawyer, so if I'm whistling dixie out of my ass, sorry.

1) While he may have earned it, we are talking about the federal gov't here. There's a strict series of procedures to be followed when taking any item off the U.S. inventory. Its designed to keep employees and service members from robbing the gov't blind, and it would probably taking a high ranking official to supercede the standard rule of turning retired property over to a central processing facility to be auctioned to the public (at a fraction of it's value).

2) The no-stars-in-moon-photos-equals-fake-moonlanding myth is tiresome. Any idiot with a digital camera with manual settings can disproof this myth. Just start taking shots of the moon, dialing down the exposure until the moon is no longer a white, featureless blob. When you are able to see details of the moon's surface, turn the camera on any star field and see how many stars you can capture at that exposure setting. Just because YOU don't understand how things work is not proof that they don't.

If an old American hero is desperate for money then something is wrong in how you treat your heroes. To be fair this is common in many countries where heroes are not treated as they should. They get more respect after death.
Anyway, if an old American hero is desperate for money the best thing NASA can do is give him 50-100.000 for the camera and no one noticing. Humiliating an old hero that help you make the name you have today by calling him a thief, is bad for him, bad for you and bad for your country. I am sure that senators are spending more money left and right for no good reasons.

[citation][nom]Abdussamad[/nom]As a Muslim I am glad to see how you Americans treat your heroes. You are destroying yourselves from within. Keep it up![/citation]

As an American... its pathetic how you treat your women as well as each other. You destroy yourselves in full public view. Cutting off parts of their vagina, sub-human and slaves. Never mind that you are BORN from a.... dirty evil woman. And your terrorist are never brave enough to attack someone in their face... nope, just blow up children like cowards.

I have deleted about a dozed anti-muslim posts Abdussamad and belardo ... out of respect to our users who are Muslim ... then you both post this rubbish on our forum?

1. Most Muslim people (the vast majority) are simply like everyone else ... they go about their lives raising their kids and trying to make a good life for themselves ... ditto for the christians, Buddists, and the myriad of other religious and non-religious people.

2. In acknowledging the above I delete anti-Muslim (or other) posts out for respect for our users from all religions ... call it equity or religious diversity ... or whatever you like but the principle is the same ... respect for each other.

3. Then Abdussamad you post an inflammatory comment like this ... unnacceptable.

4. belardo your stereotypical blinded comment is even more unnacceptable.

I will not give either of you any further warnings ... next post like the above gets you permabanned from these forums ...
