They must be kidding. I don't know what else to even say to this. It's mind boggling. It puzzles one's senses about as much as trying to imagine 100 billion stars, in a 100 billion galaxies. Both now exist, but, I don't fully understand either.

I think they should tell the gamers to get off their fat lazy asses, turn off the damned television and RUN THAT F***ING MILE!

The gamers who are not fat and lazy should have no problem with this. The ones that do don't deserve to be in the military.

That "do" in that last sentence should be an "are." Who do I harass about adding an edit button to toms guide forums?

Seriously... WTH!

"ease new recruits into the strenuous routines of boot camp"
Why would you want to do that? Its not like people your fighting against are gonna say "aww lets wait for the poor guy to adapt slowly before we starting fighting"....

They are just promoting the lazy-ness! What they should really do is just drop em straight into an extreme situation, like a week long survival run.

You have no idea what your talking about. So stop now. I went to that boot camp. The idea behind this "possibility" is very sound. Do you know how many people showed up for boot camp in decent shape, but were QUICKLY injured because the schedule of exercise was almost INSTANTLY intense? How many people could this help keep off of the government coffers and in a productive state for the navy and this country? No?

Then shut your mouth. However, advertising it as using a wii, is kinda rediculous. There are many other ways that it can be accomplished. How about a REAL DEP program that works the potential recruits up to a physical state they need to be in. I'm so sick and tired of the recruiters screwing people over. HOWEVER, some blame does rest on the difficult recruits.. Some of them never show up to anything until they are getting on the plane for chicago..

The Navy has seen the future. In a few years, the entire pool of future sailors will be composed of Gomer Pyles. And there´s not enough Sgt. Hartmannns to go around...

CBT and simulators have their place in military training, and have been proven to be effective. BUT, incorporating Wii Fit into military physical training is ridiculous! Okay ladies, it’s raining today, so we’re going to train inside on the Wii Fit! A chain is only as strong as its weakest link! Boot camp is a group effort, and the stronger bring the weaker up to par. Physical training may need to be scaled back to a slower pace, and in turn boot camp may need to be extended an additional week or so, but Wii is not the way to physical fitness. I imagine that all of the services are getting more “less fit” recruits due to the economy, because they need a job.

I have to say that it's true, How may endless hours are spent playing video games. When I was a kid, you played outside until it was dinner time. Now you guys spend 2-4hrs a day sitting on your butts exercising your fingers so by the time you inlist, you may not be a tub of lard, but you don't have the endurance you would have had if you spent 2-4 hrs a day playing basketball of some type of sporting activity. Yeah, I know that I will get flamed, but you all know that it's true. I'm not a gamer, but I too spend too much time on this thing. I'm not a proponent for the endless war that we are in currently, but this article is not about that, it's about how we let ourselves and our children get fat ass's!!!

As a 21 year Air Force veteren and current Air Force civilian Security Specialist. I say use whatever works, we see more and more minor injuries to the young ones because of the trend of the last ten years or so. It may seem silly, but making a new recruit do physical fitness training when they have never done it before is insane unless you start really slow. Air Force recruiters begin working with noobs as soon as they sign up to help them prepare, that would probably be the best way to go for all services. I know the Army does it as well.

So when are troops enter a dance competition against the enemy they'll have an advantage?

Just put a steak on a truck and let them run after it. Don't waste tax payer money on this.

Doesn't the military have minimum fitness requirements to join? I know in Canada they have pushups / situp / running requirements.

[citation][nom]lauxenburg[/nom]That's what training is for. You just have to be within an age bracket and have graduated high school. Boot camp/training gets everyone in shape and if they don't like it they drop out.And lets not get started on Canada's army.. ^^[/citation]

I mean you can't be the fattest f**k and the world and say you want to be a SEAL. That's not going to work either.
