I just bought a house (new to me) with a built in surround sound system. I can not figure out how to hook this thing up. It has 5 speakers and appears to have a different set of wall plugs for each speaker. My TV has two audio out ports. (Not the same type of plug for either: one says digital and one is a single black square that says audio out). The surround ports (2 for each speaker) are gold with a red stripe and a black stripe. I have no clue. Thanks for your help!

You are going to need a surround sound receiver to get it working. That will connect to and power all the speakers. You can connect your TV to it with the optical audio out or your can connect your sources to the receiver and then use it to switch what is shown on the TV. Depends on wiring and how you want to use it. You will also need a powered subwoofer which the previous owners took with them.
It may be best to buy one from a shop that will install and set it up for you.
