Need help with headphone color coding

I bought a TRRS plug to replace the broken audio jack on my earphones but I can't figure out what the colored mean. I have a the colored wires I have are copper, red, blue, green, and there is also a wire with copper and red twisted together.

Get a multi-meter, switch it to measure resistance (Ohms). Put headphones over your ears.
With one probe of the meter connected to shield, probe other wires. You'll hear a faint "click" in the headphone, this will let you know which wire goes to where.

Google will help you to wire these to the TRRS jack.

Thanks for the tip. However, I did manage to find the left and right channel of the wires and which were green(left), and red(right). I put the green wire in the first ring of the plug and put red on the second. I had a problem which when I did a left and right headphones test the left channel was heard on both channels. However, I did find when I put the blue wire on the third ring the problem stopped happening so I assumed it was the correct place for the blue wire. The copper wire striped with red seemed to go as well in the third ring as anywhere else the headphone volume decreased and only was audible on one channel. So with the way it is now everything is functioning.There is, however, one wire that seems to make no difference on where I put it I assumed it was for the mic/volume control but I tried pressing all the buttons and none seem to work despite the headset icon showing. So I just soldered it onto the fourth ring so that I could enclose the housing. Any ideas why the mic/volume control is not working.

Obviously some of these wires are not going to their correct places 😉

If you're sure with left / right / common wires, try swapping the remaining wires around. The most outer ring (the one closest to the housing) is the common (ground), so there should go the three "ground" wires from left / right / mike.
