Need help with Headphones not able to hear from both ways when i plug in to my pc.

My brand new headphones work, but when i plug them into the front of my tower,they only play from my left side, and not my right side. It plays from both sides ONLY when i lift up the port, but when i let it go it goes back to left only playing. My computer is a custom built pc. I just built it a couple weeks ago. Please help.Thanks.

the headphones connector on the case is defective see this how it is wired check picture d one of the pins does not made contact http/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phone_connector_%28audio%29

What motherboard and case using? Do the headphones work fine when plugged in the back port?
