Need help with my GTX980M

I bought a new laptop with the below specs about 2 weeks ago:

gtx980m
i7-4710hq
8gb ram

Ran 3dmark and achieved a score of 8000+

Decided to overclock it w MSI afterburner, +135 to clock and +200 to memory. 3dmark score up to 9000+

After resetting my overclock setting, saw a drop in performance in FC4. decided to run 3dmark again this morning, and got a score of only 4500+.

Getting scared here, what may be the reason for this? Any help is appreciated!

You should check your temperatures, the GPU may be throttled because of heat. Most heating solutions in laptops are not designed to be overclocked as it is such a small space.
