I recently removed 36 viruses from my mothers computer. Over 600 Spyware as well.

I know right?

Anyway.... one of the viruses has marked HUNDREDS of files as "Read Only" and she cannot edit them and then save them. It's also prevented her from playing her "games" like solitaire.

When you click Properties, uncheck "Read Only", and apply. The files instantly reverts back to READ ONLY.

Can somebody help me here? My Mom lost her Dell Recovery disk and she keep asking me to fix it :sarcastic:

EDIT: I am positive the virus is gone and no longer on the system.

Solution
1.To ensure that virus is gone download & install Malwarebytes in safe mode with networking & run a Scan. If you get nothing, then your system is virus free.
http://www.malwarebytes.org/ .

2.For reocvery this link may help you

It's my kind advice to do a clean install of OS if possible,Contact Dell and request Dell Reinstallation Recovery CDs directly from Dell Technical Support. Contact them @ 1-800- 624-9896. Explain your situation. You will be asked for your service tag number of your system.
Hopefully Dell charges less than $15 to send you a replacement Reinstallation CD.

After recovery/Reinstallation...

I'm going to agree with saran for the most part here.

I don't think Avira is going to be much help for the current issues. It's a good Antivirus to prevent future infections.

Boot into safe mode with networking (Usually F8 on startup). Download and run Combofix.
http://www.combofix.org/

Then run the ccleaner registry tool. You may need to run this several times to resolve all of the issues.
