Wife's restaurant has a speaker system that is powered by a AV amp connected to a desktop PC in the upstairs office. I'm looking for a solution where I can easily remotely turn on/off music from the AV receiver or desktop pc. A bonus would be to remotely turn off the power on the AV at night as well.

Prior idea was to use Teamviewer (from mobile app) to remote into the desktop in office and put a timer to the electrical outlet for the AV.

Not as cool as telling Alexa, "turn off..." but it works. Why do you want to "improve" this?

I would suggest you look into using a Sonos Connect. That would feed audio to the receiver. You won't need the PC and it is controlled via free app on most devices. Much more flexible.
You might be able to use a ConnectAmp and not need the receiver. It depends on the number of speakers.

Thx all for the suggestions. I may go with Itunes on the desktop and manually power the av. I don't want any potential fire hazards with a remote or electrical timer.
