Need Laptop Fix Advice

We have a laptop we bought a year ago for my younger son. He installed Minecraft on it and the laptop now has what I am fairly sure is some sort of re-direct issues as well as pop-up issues. We have on the computer Malware Bytes and McAfee.

We now want to use it for my older son for college. Should I take it to Geek Squad and have them clean it or is there something else you can recommend? I should add that wiping it back to factory install is not an option since we paid $125 for Microsoft Office.

First check that you don't have any programs in the control panel which can cause the pop ups.
Second check the browser for any extensions that may have installed

This assumes that you have ran a virus scan and no viruses are found.
If this doesn't work then take it to the geek squad.

You can still retain Office - you'll just need to extract your product key for it.

Then factory reset and re-activate Office.

No need to take it to Geek Squad - save your money!

Google will be your friend. There are a few free utilities out there that will extract your relevant license keys.
