I assume i need to run a spdif 3.5mm jack from movie box to amp with amp end being optical or somthing. But i dont have any spots i can see to put it. Im lost guys any help will do.

So sorry buddy. So my goal is to be running 5.1 surround sound through the tv box when i stream movies off it. I dont use the tv for anything else. Currently can not get any audio through surround sound only out of tv. As a test if i run a aux from the box to my amp i can get them to work. But its obviously distorted and crackles and isnt a viable option and wouldnt be true 5.1 i assume. My amp has one hdmi port as does the box. And my amp doesnt have a spot for optical to go in. So just very confused.

If the 2nd and 3rd pictures down are pictures of your amp then it is not a true 5.1 amplifier. It is a matrixed amplifier that creates its own version of 5.1, it is not a discreet 5.1 amp. There are no 5.1 inputs.

In your original post you say you have everything wired up to your amp. What exactly do you have wired up to your amp? Is that your amp in the 2nd picture down? If it is, I don't see ANYTHING hooked up as an input.

The more I study your pictures, the more I see.

1. You do not have anything hooked up to your amp.
2. Your amp is really a combo amp and DVD player.
3. Your amp is not a 5.1 amp, it is a Dolby Digital amp.
4. There really is no way to use your amp as a 5.1 amp, it will always be just a stereo/5.1 matrix amp.
5. There really are no usable HDMI inputs or TOSLINK or S/PDIF inputs into your amp/DVD player.

I really do not think that you can connect your "movie box" (whatever that is) to your amp/DVD player.

Is your "movie box" a Roku? Does it have 2 RCA type analog jacks in the back? That is the only way that you can use your amp is with 2 RCA type analog jacks, and even then your amp is still just a stereo amp with Dolby Digital output.
