Netbook problem

Hello,

My Dell Netbook must not have shut down properly last time and now I cannot get past the blank blue screen, control alt del does not seem to work? Has anyone has this problem with a netbook? Is there another way to "shut down" so I can get back up?

Hold-down the power button for a few seconds until the netbook powers-off.
