I don't see a problem either, both are consenting adults who enter into an agreement with free will, if the person offering favours doesn't wanna do it anymore then they move out it's that simple. It's a mutual relationship, particularly for guys they'd buy a woman gifts and stuff and he'd probably get sex in return, its not much different. The person providing a free rent room recieves sexual favours instead of rent money. For all intense and purposes peanuts could be used as the currency, it's only the fact the cash is the universal recognised form of currency that it is used 99.8% of the time.

As long as no one is getting raped or humiliated then it gets the green light from where I'm sitting. But while we're all sitting here making innocent fun of this, the reality is that whatever you call this, this is sex trade - and it's never simple, pure and fun. It's unfortunate that most people agreeing to be the sex slaves to someone are either poor, or on a very bad path in life. I'm not against this, but please keep in mind what this means to the person who's got no other choice but to be used like a kleenex on a good midnight "porno session" or living on the streets...

I agree that it should be legal because it is freewill and religious morals have no place in the government, however you also have to consider public health. STDs could spread rapidly and have all kinds of ill effects and can effect everyone. Our tax dollars will go to stopping the diseases and awareness of this. It will cost everyone. Especially if the government were to give free health care. Which isn't free at all, someone will have to pay for it through tax dollars. It's kinda like communism because every body will have to share their wealth with others.

Doesn't sound much different from a typical BF/GF relationship.

There are lots of girls in the 18~22 range with little or no income who hook up with guys, move in, etc. This is more to the point. :/

It is.

I fully believe 'morality' laws are a bunch of bullshit.
As long as prostitution is kept safe, clean and honest, then why make it illegal?

If people have a free room, and someone else has no cash and needs a place to stay and they're willing, then have fun kids.

Marriage also means both partners have a financial stake equal marriage after the marriage has be "solemnized." I don't want to debate the fine details, but the institute is setup to deter abuses by one partner to another. For instance, if I have very large salary and my spouse has none, from the instant we are married the spouse is entitled to half under the law (and prenupts are quite easily thrown out in court) thus deterring and quid pro quo unless the quid is totally worth it. In my view, the modern western concept of marriage is compromise between the ancient idea and at least pragmatic view that there can only be justice between "equals" and individual property concepts.

This is a really old story, BTW.

[citation][nom]roitman[/nom]I wonder how sex for rent is different from marriage?[/citation]

In ways it is similar, like if both the bride and groom are rich, they probably will live sophisticated lives and not have any sex, or if they are both poor have a lot of sex cause they have no money to go on trips or do anything. But otherwise for marriage.. there is no consistency, the longer it lasts the less sex happens, and it gets random and more random until it just stops, and then eventually all you have an ugly bitch/asshole living in your house...

You still get to win some of the arguments with the roommate.

You guys do realize the entire reason America was "founded" was for religious reasons right? You also understand that the government was created to protect those religious rights correct? Separation of the government from religion was not to prevent religion in government (as that was the core of it) it was to prevent the nonreligious or the over zealous religious government officials that would surely get in office one day from ripping apart religion and the freedom to express it.
