new dvd player doesn't work on tv with direct tv

how can I change my sony tv from hdmi1 to hdmi2? which of 3 usb ports on back of sony KDL32ex do I use for dvd usb?

You will need to use the TV remote or buttons on the TV (itself if it has them). That button could be TV/Video or input or source.
The USB ports on the TV don't connect to the DVD USB at all.

HDMI ports on back (or side) of your TV are clearly marked as such. Your DVD player should have HDMI output as well, or you should use other cables (red-white-yellow) to your TV.
