Question New hdd wont boot

I got a new seagate barraCuda 1tb hdd for my asus vivobook 15 but when i try to boot up the power light blinks once then turns off. It wont stay on long enough to open the bios but when i take the hdd out it works fine off the ssd.

i presume this 1tb is an internal drive not external? if internal, can you try it on another computer whether desktop or laptop, doesn't matter, to see if still have that issue as the drive might be a DOA.

I had it tried on my brothers desktop it never showed up on bios or disk manager but today i set it up as an external and it works is it the cable messing it up?

but your brother's computer uses 2 cables for sata drives, power & data so why didn't his computer not see the drive?

i presume you\he plugged both cables into the drive? which asus vivobook 15 do you have so i can see the specs on it in relation to hard drive capacity limits? is that 1tb a mechanical drive or a ssd?

Its usually advertised as being able to add new hdd to it since it already doesnt have one the hdd is mechanical

so the configuration you are attempting to use is the 128gb ssd as the c:drive & the 1tb as the d:drive without changing anything, correct?
