We've just moved into a new house. The previous owners have wired up the house with Cat 5 (or 6?) cables, where next to every tv point there are 2 ethernet sockets. We've identified that all the cables lead back to a central cupboard which is home to the router point and the tv aerial distribution amplifier.
We figured one of these ethernet connections would just be used for a wired internet connection to each room, so we've bought an ethernet switch and that all works fine and the internet is now working great in all the rooms.
We now have no idea what to do with the second connection. Could anyone provide any recommendations on what we could use it for? Someone suggested it may have been used with Sky TV but we have no idea how we would go about getting that connected up to play independently in each room. Would we need multiple boxes?
Any help would be appreciated.
