New laptop...600 dollar max budget!

My girlfriend had a crappy low end dell laptop for about two years. something inside died and she needs a new one.

Her budget is 600 bucks. This time around she wants portability. She wants a 13" - 14", reliable, wont die on her in two years, as light weight as possible. She needs the laptop to be able to handle basic computing (email, microsoft word, excel, web browswing, that sort of thing.).

Basically, light weight, portable, basic computing power, reliable, and solid build quality.

Can you guys give me some recommendations?

Take a look at Acer Aspire V5 and VivoBook.

Check out acers ebay account. It is acer themselves that sell refurbished laptops and you can get an ultrabook for as little as $400. If you don't want to go that route I understand just thought I'd mention it
