1. What is your budget?
Up to $2,500 but closer to $2,000 would be better
2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
Nothing smaller than 13" or larger than 17"
3. What screen resolution do you want?
1600x900 will work on 14" or smaller, 1920x1080 or higher otherwise
4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
either will do
5. How much battery life do you need?
Not a huge concern, but a few hours would be nice
6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)? Starcraft II, BioShock Infinite, Tomb Raider. High

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
I will be typing on it a lot for school. I will be doing some coding, web development, and software development on it.

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
750 GB if traditional, 256 GB if solid state
9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.
I have been looking at Alienware, Razer, Lenovo, Apple, Xotic PC, ibuypower, Cyberpower and ASUS ROG.
10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?
4+ years
11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
Not required
12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
I like Alienware, Razer, and Apple because I have to admit I am a little vain with my electronics and looks matter to me more than they really should. There aren't really any brands I'm dead set against
13. What country do you live in?
USA
14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.
I really do want a laptop that looks nice and/or cool as well as delivers good specs.

They are top contenders at the moment. I won't be buying for about a month just to see what else with Haswell launches in the next month. If Apple updates the MBP with Retina to Haswell and this years graphics, it may be a contender too, but the Blade and Blade Pro are oh so sweet. An Alienware 14 is a pretty high contender too.

Would the new Macbook Pro run cool and quiet though? My friend has one from 2011 i think, and it gets very hot playing Minecraft. Although the new processors and things are supposed to combat this.

The vast majority of laptops on the market (94% in 2011) are manufactured by a small handful of Taiwan-based Original Design Manufacturers (ODM), although their production bases are located mostly in mainland China. Major relationships include:

Quanta sells to (among others) HP, Lenovo, Apple, Acer, Toshiba, Dell, Sony, Fujitsu and NEC
Compal sells to (among others) Acer, Dell, Toshiba, Lenovo and HP/Compaq
Wistron (former manufacturing & design division of Acer) sells to Dell, Acer, Lenovo and HP
Inventec sells to Toshiba, HP and Lenovo
Pegatron sells to Asus, Toshiba, Apple, Dell and Acer
Foxconn sells to Asus, Dell, HP and Apple
Flextronics (former Arima Computer Corporation notebook division) sells to HP
Clevo was the original OEM for Alienware before dell bought them; now make Sager,WidowPC, Falcoln Northwest and other boutique brands as well as sell thru direct distributors.

Buying direct from Clevo distributor gets you the same lappie as the fancy smancy guys at about 2/3 the price....after all fancy guys using Clevo chassis and parts.

I buy custom built clevo laptops here:
