Hey all,

Im a desktop man, but have recently run into the need to buy a laptop. However, I would still like a laptop powerful enough to game on when not at home and as such, would like a little help.

My requirements are:

- Minimum of GTX 850m (or AMD equivalent)
- Mnimum of i5 CPU
- Screen size between 14-16"
- 6-8GB RAM

I am not fussed about 1080p screens, and will be quite happy with 1366x768 or similar.

So far, Ive found these 15.6" Laptops:

- £650 Acer Aspire Nitro V N7-571G (i5-4210u / 6GB RAM / GTX 850m / 60gb SSD + 1TB HDD /720p)

- £655 Cube Chameleon CZ-5850 (i5-4210m / 8GB RAM / GTX 850m / 1TB HDD / 720p)

- £680 PC Specialist Cosmos II (i5-4210m / 8GB RAM / GTX 850m / 1TB HDD / 1080p)

The Acer seems like the best value, due to the 60GB SSD, but Im not sure on the looks or the fact it will come with Windows 8 instead of 7.

The Cube seems like the best all rounder for the money.

The Cosmos II is more pricey due to the (unchangeable) 1080p screen, which Im not a big fan of as Im more than happy to game at 768p on a laptop, and would prefer the FPS gains.

So, could anyone help me out with any points on the above, or with any other options?

Thanks in advance,
Gallarian

Go for the Cube Chameleon. Though the Acer is good, that low voltage i5 is never going to have the brute force of the standard voltage i5 of the Cube. And it will make a noticeable difference in some CPU intensive games. Also, though the Cosmos too is good, I would tell you to avoid it for the simple reason that the 850m will not be able to render many modern games smoothly in 1080p (which kind of defeats the purpose of having the 1080p display).
So, the Cube has the best balance.
