I need help. I spent ~$400 on my current setup and an getting no audio and am about ready to hurl my computer out of a window. My motherboard (gigabyte b85m-ds3h-a) does not have an optical output. I bought an Asus xonar DGX because it was only $30 and had an optical out so I could use my recently purchase SMSL SD-793II.

I am using Amazon basics spdif cable from the soundcard to the SD-793II. I have HTm50s plugged into the Dac/amp.

I'm using RCA cables to connect the SD793 to an SMSL SA-36a. I have RCA 16-gauge speaker wire running from the SA36 to micca bookshelf speakers(the ones that everyone buys).

I installed the driver for the soundcard, I've tried doing every possible combination of settings and have absolutely no clue what is wrong.

OK if it is coming out of the monitors speakers, do you have that plugged into your GPU with HDMI? It could be that the GPU audio is being made primary. Check your output devices under Windows sound manager and make sure that the Asus Xonar is set as the primary sound output device.

Is there an option under the Asus Audio control panel to tell it to output audio to the Optical Out?

You need to check that off and tell it to output to the SPDIF then it should throw audio to your receiver.

My audio center looks exactly the same as yours, it still isn't working. for some reason, when i restarted my computer it is now coming out of the built-in speakers in one of my monitors.
