no audio on lg lcd tv

I have no audio from the tv by either internal or output ports. There is also no signal coming from the optical cable. I've went to the menu and tried all the selections without any luck. Could it be an internal part that's gone bad. If so which one? It's a 2010 model but still has a great picture on it.
