No connection to computer

my iPhone 3gs connected at first to my hp pavilion dv4-2145dx and then it doesn't connect properly now i can charge it through the wall adapter but it won't even charge pluged into my computer all the usb ports are usb 2.0 hispeed and i have tried every port on the computer the iphone works fine with other computers except my new computer. can you help me get it to work properly

i got the iPhone to charge and show up as apple iPhone under my computer but it still wont show up under iTunes i uninstalled a 32 bit version and installed a 64bit version to see if that might fix it witch it didn't it opens iTunes and even when i run diagnostics it still says no iPhone connected but under my computer it shows up and works perfectly fine can someone please help me with this soon
