Another reason not to buy a Crapbox 360 from Microbloat with no WiFi, proprietary HD, no Blue Ray but they will give you a free chance for the Red Ring of Death.
You can change out the PS3 HD with any 2.5" SATA drive yourself, the way should be.

I'm puzzled that no 3rd party vendor does not manufacture upgrades. You can buy controllers and other accessories, why not hard drives?

"This hard drive is not being sold separately, YET but give it a few months and we'll sell it for $199.99, we just want to suck as much cash out of the bundles first as we can" Xbox Live programming
director Larry 'Major Nelson' Hryb noted.

Have not looked at mine... but is it possible to pull apart the hdd module and put in a bigger drive?

I guess that's one area that the PS3 is clearly easier to deal with, upgrading the drive took me about 10 minutes.

p.s. this si a terible move for MS , what they hoenstly need to do , is pus teh 60 gig down to 60 bucks , then teh 120 down to 100 bucks , and see teh 250 for 150 bucks, shittying on palyers that gave you money , is NOT a good idea , they defintiely need a 250 gig sold seperate particually since they added games on demand and such thigns, having abunch of 360 games on demand is to damn much space for a 120 gig let alone a 60 HD. if they dotn reelase this 250 solo this is gonna bit them in the ass, if they do release it and it has some ridculous antique price (aka 100 bucks fora 60 gig get real) i'll jsut find a used one on amazon for about 50 bucks less than what they seel it at retail

I don't want to hear any of this shit. I still have the 20 gig harddrive where you can put only 1 game on it and maybe a little content. I'm actually trying to figure out how to stuff a larger drive in it then copy the files over. Only problem notebook HD are expensive.

1. The PS3 slim you CANNOT change out the hard drive. (So I guess it now has a proprietary HDD too!!)
2. You are also right... the Sony will give you a Yellow Light of Death instead of a Red Ring (LOL!!!)
2. Microsoft is releasing a STANDARD-N adapter for the 360... where is PS3's N adapter??? Oh wait.... Sony doesn't have one.....

Noob.....

Cabose:

1 - uh.... yes you CAN replace the HD in the PS-Slim. Takes a minute or so. Remove a single screw. http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=112248

2 - ??? 12,000 units out of 2.5million - its a general error. Thats a bit different from severe hardware failure of 33~50% xboxs.

3 - Standard N just finished... uh.... a PS3 N Adapter can be made. Maybe they'll add it in future models. Pretty much nobody has a Final N product on the market.... And not that much of a big deal since G is still faster than most Internet connections.

4B - PS3 include a wireless adapter. Not some $80~100 ADD-ON. yeah.. Xbox has NO adapters.

You're beyond noob...

hmm i think i know the reason why there's no standalone

let's see... the 120gb is about $140, that's more than $1 per gb. if they released the 250gb following the same standards, it will easily go over $230, making it more than an arcade... forget the arcade, it'll make it more than the freakin wii.

microsoft is stupid. except when it comes to the zune hd, than they are smart.

Oh you kiddies and your consoles. PCs can be changed at any time.

That;s not to say I don't have a 360, but that's for when my computer can run a game. (Ahem, GTA IV)

They should just make an adapter that allows you to plus in a sata drive. It doesn't seem that hard just a female adpater to the 360 and sata on the other end.

What is ALSO silly... is that the PS3 INCLUDES a backup tool to allow the PS3 owner to BACKUP all his data onto an external USB drive.

MS = Lame...

Smalls = Why are some posts, like yours... in light gray? Its very difficult to read.

Hear what? Yeah, 20GB is tiny - and MS expects the major of its Xbox user base to do heavy media streaming/downloads (LOL) when a huge chunk of its user base have NO or 20GB drives (Anyone have stats?).

What do you mean notebook drives are expensive? Look here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010150380%201035915133&bop=And&ShowDeactivatedMark=False&ActiveSearchResult=True&Order=PRICE

$55~70 = 320GB drive. $80~100 = 500GB drive. There are cheaper drives, like $50, but they are 80~160GB size, so why bother?

You see, MS has hardware code in the 360 that says 0 / 20 / 60 / 120 GB drives only. The HD modules they sell are (if I remember right) slightly modified HDs for DRM.

So your best and ONLY bet for now is... $140~150 for the MS-120GB HD upgrade.

PS3 wireless-G is good enough, and personally, i love its Gigabit LAN when streaming large files within the home network, super fast and reliable. Plus, Gbit switch/router nowday can already be found very cheap.
