Solved! No wifi calling on phone

My husband bought a Moto X4 at Best Buy. We have Verizon as our carrier. Our service at the house is non-existent but I figured no big deal...we could use wifi calling. The phone does not have wifi calling and Verizon says our only fix is to buy him a new phone. Any advice?
