that last advert was really good. I held the Nokia lumia 800 in my hand the other day, played with it a bit. Might take some getting used to software-wise, but the quality was there on both hard and sodtware levels.

[citation][nom]wildkitten[/nom]The ads are amusing. If Microsoft makes something intuitive, responsive and has the app support behind it, I can see Windows making some strong headway into the smartphone market. The ironic thing is, Microsoft may actually benefit because Android, which is Linux based, keeps getting more news put out about malware. So the OS whose fans claim is invulnerable to such things on the desktop and should be considered a strong alternative to Windows there, may give phone users a reason to try a Windows based phone to try to avoid such problems.Of course no OS, no matter it be on the desktop or phone, will ever be immune to malware so Microsoft needs to make sure security is a priority from the beginning. But competition is good, so I hope they succeed.[/citation]
The commercials don't seem to have anything to do with the OS, but talking about their hardware. They feel theirs are more durable, reliable and a screen that works better in daylight.

I have 4 Nokias before I switch to Andriod. But seriously Nokia needs to move faster before wining customer back. Why showing video ads with footage 2007. Face the reality, don't live in the history please.

[citation][nom]IkoRn[/nom]Garbage phones, lol. Have you owned some Nokia? They have the best made phones, they were not number 1 phone manufacturer for so many years just on their name you know. People are so ignorant. I have owned many phones, but Nokia have always made best quality phones. Currently I own n8 and its best phone I have ever own. Don't just talk trash, just cause you have read something.[/citation]

Ah yea I have and it was garbage. Thats more than I can say for the Samsung's I've owned including the Android I own now. Pff fanboys...blind and useless.

so what cna we take from these comertials...

they wont have grip of death
they wont greak from most accidental drops
and it will be more visible in the sun.

3 things that the iphone never bothered fixing from the getgo

[citation][nom]zybch[/nom]The WP platform doesn't require stupidly over the top tech to work smooth as silk. Ever wondered why android devices pretty much all have dual (sometimes quad) core processors? Its because the OS is such a badly integrated mess that is NEEDS that power just to do simple things. iOS and WP are far better written systems that make perfect use of their chips compared to android that has the dubious honor of having the fastest chips because the OS is a botched hodgepodge of non-optimized tech google stole/borrowed from many developers.A single core 1Ghz WP7 device runs most things far faster and smoother than many of the latest dual core and multi-Ghz offerings sporting android.[/citation]

The OS itself doesn't require much, but still I'd want good specs on a highend phone I plan on using for (at least) the next 3 years, a good dual core CPU for multitasking and threaded applications, a good GPU just in case, and enough memory to go along with it.

I won't comment on specs (because they are irrelevant) but my Lumia 800 is an order of magnitude faster than my wife's Galaxy SII and in the store I bought it a cursory glance shows it a lot faster than the Galaxy Nexus as well. It's also notably quicker than the iPhone 4S I had before.

WP7 runs the smoothest and fastest of all the mobile OSes (hammering android mercilessly into the ground here whilst merely cruising past iOS) and is also, in general better designed than either iOS (especially, this OS is starting to look incredibly dated) or Android (but newer version of Android are getting pretty good, design wise, shame about the performance).

If speed and responsiveness are your thing, this is the phone to get. I've got the Lumia 800 and it's also worth noting the screen looks exactly the same outside in bright, direct sunlight as it does inside with no glare (seriously, this seems like some sort of magic) and gets better reception than the other smartphones in my house. Call quality is perfect, UI is brilliant (takes a few days to get used to it though for some - not me) and the phone feels MUCH better in the hand than anything else I've ever tried (phone-wise).

Jokes aside they have a point BUT Give credit to the companies that beat you to it Nokia, because if they didn't make the mistakes first you wouldn't release anything

That's funny ... I feel like I've been beta testing Microsoft Office and Windows for the past 16 years ...

[citation][nom]chronicbint[/nom]If the Lumia 800/900 had a better camera I would own one.[/citation]The Carl Zeiss optics in the Lumia 900 are actually pretty damned good. You should do a little research on it.
