Solved! NV55C will not boot and always shuts down before finishing

I have tried every which way to start this thing and no luck, it keeps shutting down before I can finish doing anything, ie. System restore, virus scan, etc. It is so slow is doing anything it then shuts down. I checked the power supply w/wo the battery and no difference. Sometimes when I turn it on it shuts off immediately and others it gets to the desktop screen and then shuts down. I am at my wits end. What else can I do? Two years ago it was updated to windows 10 from 7 but it worked ok after that. Thanks for the help.

First thing I'd try is running a diagnostic. One example is: https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/sergei_strelecs_winpe.html. Use a differnt computer to create the USB in case yours has a virus. Boot your laptop from the diagnostic USB. If the diagnostic runs and passes, your issue is probably software (or a virus). If this is the case, do a clean windows reinstall as detailed here: https://www.howtogeek.com/714130/how-to-install-windows-10-from-a-usb-drive/. As before, use another computer to create the USB stick. The clean reinstall will wipe everything on your system drive. Hope you have a backup!
