Nvidia ShadowPlay Vs MSI Afterburner

I'm thinking of getting a MSI 290 when it comes out ,and wanted to know how afterburner would hold up against shadow play..

No I think you are right.

Shadowplay is for recording games and is for Nvidia cards only. Afterburner is the only one of the two that you can even use.

yeah but afterburner has a video recording function for msi cards

Afterburners recording facility works on every card regardless of manufacturer but Shadowplay only works on Nvidia cards of the 6xx series and above IIRC.
