Solved! NVIDIA Shield Tv + Plex = Not Getting Dolby Atmos

Hi,

I just got my Nvidia Shield Tv 2017.

I am using Plex and trying to play Dolby Atmos (TrueHD 7.1) videos, but its transcoding the Audio only, not sure why.


My setup are as follows

Nvidia Shield:
Surround Sound = Auto (also tried disabled and Always but no use)


Plex :
Passthrough = Auto
H264 Max Level = Disabled

I am not using AVR at this point, all audio is being sent to my TV


PS, DTS MA 7.1 works flawlessly, All DTS formats work without any issue, but for Dolby I was only able to reach max of EAC3

The TV is stereo and can't reproduce Atmos. The Shield has to be connected directly to an Atmos AVR that has been set up with the additional speakers.

I was thinking the same as well. BUT using Kodi, its able to play Atmos with the same setup, as well as with Kodi`s Plex Add-on, I am also able to play it. So I guess it doesnt have to do with my setup rather an issue with Plex app

Plex is just not passing through Atmos. And as I mentioned DTS X, and DTS MA are working just fine on Plex
