and cables to connect it. A coax digital cable from the TV to the converter and standard stereo audio cables from the converter to the Pioneer (any input except phono is OK).
The remote of the TV would not control the volume (the output is fixed) and since the receiver predates remote control it doesn't have one. It might not be convenient of her to use.
If the TV had a headphone jack then that would have required just a cable.
