'Operation Payback' Booted from Twitter, Facebook

They can try to stop them, but they can't succeed. Anon uses the 'zerg rush' approach when attacking, and Facebook and Twitter lack the resources to stop them outright.

The best they can hope is for the stance on credit card companies to change or for them to get bored and go back to rick rolling.

I will probably get thumbed down by all those rebels out there, but

Twitter and Facebook are doing the right thing because
1) the organization is inciting illegal activity through the use of their domains
2) it violates the terms and agreements of use on Twitter and Facebook
3) they own the servers as well as the domain so have the legal right to chose who can use their services

For all those people who say this is some kind of violation of freedom of speech (and are not satisfied by the reasons above), I would like to point out that ALL entities, either corporate or individual, with a couple of exceptions, retain the right to provide or refuse to provide a service to another person. To force someone to serve someone else against their will is the definition of slavery. Facebook and Twitter are not suppressing them or forcing them to be quiet, they are denying an organization a service on the grounds that they violated the agreement they made when they made their accounts.

This is how I feel about the whole situation, ok. No one has the right to tell me or any one else what we can or can't do if it isn't harming any one else. I also feel that we should be able to say what we feel like saying with out being arrested or worse assassinated.

I also feel that our constitution states that the Government that represents us is not aloud to lie to our faces and tell us what to think and what to say. They're also supposed to not allow corruption to happen or abuses of power. Apparently according to these leaked cables that they don't want us seeing or hearing about, they're obviously doing exactly just that, abusing their powers.

Our Government "illegally" helped the Swiss Government get a hold of papers on a company that searches for lost treasures in exchange for a painting that a rich person over here says was stolen from him by the Nazis back in the day of the war with them. So they just straight bent the law for some rich arse over here in our country because he has some connections in the Government, obviously because he is supplying some people with money from his pocket.

I don't see our government helping me out with my issues and breaking laws for me to do so. Then again, guess I don't have much money to give them huh??

Our Government is at the stage where it is failing us which is what it is supposed to be here for, US.

End of rant.

It's not disabled, it's just b0rked. 🙁 If you click view comments on forums you'll see all the up and down votes.

"the feel are unsupportive of wikileaks"

please! they have BLOCKED FUNDING to them! with out any formal charges being brought against the site, the US has sent 'letters' to the ONLY practical avenues of funding, telling them to block them!

its blocking free speech! as are twitter and facebook. now sure, its a free world and these are free companies that can do what they want! BUT THEY ARE BLOCKING FREE SPEECH!

now, I don't care at all about the wikileaks leaks, they have been so far, completely pointless and superficial, and certainly haven't achieved anything constructive by way of letting the people know of relevant secret information.

but that doesn't matter! North Korea bombed the S**T out of the south for NO REASON and they have had less action taken against them!

and even worse than a COUNTRY trying to block free speech, is random private , fundamentally important companies feeling they have the right to try and block it!

Completely agreed. They're protecting their own investments and doing what would be considered a safe business decision.

Glad that it's broken. I'm tired of illogical people having their way with perfectly valid comments. Interestingly coincidental that this is happening around the same time that I put my feedback up regarding this: http://feedbacks.tomshardware.com/f...-ideas/suggestions/1278875-comment-vote-downs

You're comparing a hypocritical tyranical ruler that's deemed himself god and made all of his country a slave to kneel before him to Wikileaks' account being disabled on facebook? That's a bit extreme. I think I'll draw the line where people's lives are being extinguished by a madman and say that trumps Facebook making a reasonable self-preserving decision to distance themselves from a would-be scandal.

DDoS is illegal but there are many government sponsored hackers whose job it is to harass sites like wikileaks. If the government is allowed to do it why not let everyone do it?

[citation][nom]micr0be[/nom]spam-rush-repeat !![/citation]

but when ur like visa and pretty much have a monopoly in the world refusing service to a client becomes political, because that client is dependant on you and doesn't have a choice. and i dont see how visa will say that keepin donations open on the site was detrimental to them.
the people have a right to support an organisation (kkk is legal in the states) and have a right to the truth.....its more embarassing then anything, anyone following world events (and not rellying on fox or cnn) knew all of this already.....im more happy that because its wikileaks more people know about current events now then before

Way to prove his point. He was saying that America took LESS action against Korea than they did against Wikileaks. Korean issue SHOULD trump the Wikileaks issue, yet the US Gov seems to be spending more time trying to distinguish this issue.

Also, as much as I hate the spam, it is very funny to read, "Christmas was approaching . Everyone must was looking forward to it and was preparing for it." I mean come on, at least use a better translator. Apparently Chrismas was coming, but now it's not?

united states constitution article 3 section 3 §2381-2390 as well as Encrypted Communications Privacy Act of 1996 section 3 (see 11-15) handles a good portion of any american or american company/oragnization involved with this as well as numerous theft laws and communications laws.
do not forget the united states IS at war. you DO have the right to your opinion, however if you act to aid a known criminal you just broke the law, because it also involves a criminal and criminal organization commiting various illegal acts as well as sedition by a foreign nationals that are providing aid to enemies of the state during a time of war you can be executed on the spot by any officer in the united states military if they so choose not to hand you over to federal authorities for trial.

please speak your mind, i enjoy & encourage it in every american. protections in american law only applies to americans or crimes committed on american soil. different laws apply to non american people and organizations off american soil and in this case because it was classified information makes it a matter of national security and the rules of enemy combatant can be applied under all the numerous circumstances. george bush jr was an idiot, but even idiots can get things right, he said it best with this little gem " Your either with us, or Your against us."
aside from that this wiki-retard obviously can't tell the difference between a camera tripod and an RPG as well as treason. i esp. love how he thinks he's not going to incite WW3 with the north korean and iranian bit. either way this guy and any one connected with him and the information he has is going to disappear or wind up dead very soon. my guess the russians will get him very shortly before he can leak thier info.
i found cornells.edu library the simplest and easiest to use if you care to look them up.

please don't do anything stupid as this is not like some protest against the RNC or DNC which will affect the rest of your life should you so choose to act. ( yes even most of the protestors arrested at the RNC in minneapolis did recieve felony convictions that already cost them their jobs and educations)
