I have the Panasonic 902b 65 inch 4k TV and when I bought it I learnt that the matching 4k Panasonic DMP-UB900 Player was not region free so i was gutted about that. But now Ive found out that OPPO are releasing a 4k player that will match that panasonic. Im wondering if anyone has any info about it? Im wondering if this will be multi-region, when I search for Oppo players on ebay everyone has been region free and Im wondering if they are by default region free? Are Oppo a region free specialist? I guess Im hoping it will be, Ive not had any luck in finding out whether it is yet. heres the player. https://www.oppodigital.com/uhd/

Well this player has now been released and there is a multiregion version, i rushed and bought the normal version which wasnt multiregion but then 1 day later a multiregion version turned up on the site so had it delivered. so now I have my 4K multiregion/Zone oppo and its an excellent machine. very happy :D

None of the manufacturers that license the necessary codec's to play Blu-ray are allowed to make a region free player.

However others have taken other OPPO models and moded them to be region free. I wouldn't be surprised if they do so again.

ps: Note that UHD Blu-ray discs are region free. But Blu-ray and DVD are usually region coded.

Awesome and congratulations!
I'm interested in an Oppo 203 region-free player as well.
Would you mind telling me where you purchased it from, and did they charge extra for the region free option?
Thanks and happy holidays
Sam

Yeah, well Im from the uk and it cost £100 more to have it modified for multi-zones. It was really worth it becuase they was charging about that for an external mod for the the previous standard bluray oppo models and its been done proffessionaly by the shop, The normal version is £649 wheras the modified version is 749. heres the link of where I got it from :) http://petertyson.co.uk/index.php/oppo-udp-203-multi-region-4k-uhd-blu-ray-player.html

There will be some here in Norway. I've just ordered the region free model on both Blue-Ray and DVD. My old Oppo BDP 83 SE broke down a couple of days ago. That one was also region free. Bought it in NY back in 2007.
