OTA Antenna doesn't appear to work

Hi I bought a "Millennium HDTV Antenna". I plugged it into my TV which is a philips 40PFL3706/F7 (heres a link to the manual http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/4/40pfl3706_f7/40pfl3706_f7_dfu_aen.pdf). I tried plugging the antenna into the cable input. It appears from the manual (top left of page 9/10) the antenna will work. However I get absolutely no signal. I don't understand why I get nothing. I live in toronto and was expecting at least three channels. It feels like i'm doing something wrong but IDK what.

I tried holding up the antenna and moving it around. Constantly no signal. I tried using it on my 15yr old tv (non hd) and it got nothing. How do I use this? I don't think i'll need a box if i have an HD TV?

Did you scan for channels? See Autoprogram in the user manual pg 24 and 25.

Look around you and see what kind of antena's your neighbors have. If you see them installed on the roofs, then you might need something better than your passive Millennium...

I feel so dumb. I thought the channels would show up in the first 10 channels. That completely fixed it thanks.
