I'm a complete n00b with rooting etc, so I've probably just missed a step here but none of the overclocking apps are offering clock frequencies higher than the stock 528MHz. I'm using No-Frills CPU Control and tried a couple of others too (I think one was CPU Tuner) but all offer 528MHz, 480MHz and then sometimes lower frequencies. It's only a temporary solution anyway until I get a decent dual-core phone, but I've heard of Wildfires running at up to 768MHz so would be nice to get a bit more performance out of it. Advice would be greatly appreciated.

hi , first of all to overclock your cpu u need to root your device. secondly u need to install a custom kernel (if your default supports overclocking no need to install a new one).
I recommend search for your phone in http://forum.xda-developers.com. and start reading some threads. there are a lot of tutorials and guides you can follow.
