Panasonic lumix dmc-fz20eg micro sdhc carderror

Got a Panasonic DMC-FZ20EG camera from my brother. Trying to replace the 2GB microSD card with a 16GB microSDHC card.
Turned camera back on. Display shows me "memory card error". Is there any way to fix this?

Has the card been formatted ofr use with the camera? Have you checked to make sure the card is not "locked"? Does the camera support a 16GB card?
