I have a Pavilion G6 and when i try to turn on the power light glows white, wifi light on, no blinks from caps lock. Nothing but a black screen. The hard drive is good as its been tested in another machine. Ive tried to plug in an external monitor but no screen on there either. Any help??

The good news is that the screen is probably fine but the graphics are playing up. It could be software and my workaround that would be to use a Linux operating system on a flash drive to boot the machine. If that works alright, it's a Window problem.

You may not want to do this yourself but there will be a professional PC fixer in your town who could give it a shot. If you're up for it, Linux systems are free and downloadable and you use a Windows programme named ImgBurn to make the download into a bootable system on a stick.

Mint is a good starter system and here's a good place to find it:- https://www.linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=218

You download it on to the default folder in your hard disk but when you burn it, you put it on the flash drive or memory stick. Burning is similar to copying but it comes with that essential booting facility.
