PC > AMP > Headphones setup not working

Recently I bought a pair of HIFI headphones and wanted to make the most out of them by getting an external amplifier for my PC to control the Bass, Treble and Volume (since the max volume the headphones have whilst plugged into my pc is too low for me).

And paired it with a 3.5mm Jack to 2 x RCA cable (aux to red and white audio cable)

And laid it out as shown in my terribly drawn image.

The problem is, The audio is exactly the same through my headphones > amp > pc
as it is headphones > pc

The amp is picking up that sound is coming through it but the Bass, Treble and Volume buttons do exactly nothing, and the audio still comes through even after I have turned the AMP off.

It's not the headphones because I already tried three different pairs.

This is my first time doing up an AMP audio setup, so I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if my amp is faulty?

You got the wrong amp.
Your diagram shows both headphones and a phone going to the same aux. The hookup diagram on the Amazon link shows that to be an aux input not a headphone output.
Return it if you can and get a real headphone amp.
If you can't return it this link may help you figure out if and how you can use the speaker terminals for your headphones.

As stated above, that's the wrong kind of amplifier. While you could butcher your headphones to get it to work (sort of), it would be worse than onboard sound in most cases.

If you really want a headphone amp, get an O2/ODAC from JDS Labs or Mayflower Electronics. It's a true headphone amp, and it's good enough that you'll never need anything else.

If you want an EQ, get an EQ, not an amp:

agreed, that is a speaker amplifier not a headphone amplifier.

can you use a speaker amp as a headphone amp? technically, but you would really have to be wary of overpowering the headphones as they take far less current than even small speakers. i would return it and get a proper device.

fiio makes some good budget amps. that will solve your volume level problem.

as far as modifying treble and bass, use an equalizer. you can do this within windows or use an external eq before the amp. many amps do have a bass boost function though.
