PC Gaming Recording Codec Question

Hey Guys,

I have a couple questions for gamers who upload PC gaming videos to Youtube.

First, I am using DXtory as my application to record my BF3 gaming. I am currently using the Lagarith Lossless Codec for my videos, which I hear is supposed to be one of the best. I am recording 30fps @ 720p. After 30 minutes of recording, my video is over 40GB.

Is there another codec or program that would allow that file size to go down? 40GB seems like a huge file to upload to youtube, so how do other people do it? How do uploaders get small enough file sizes to upload to youtube?

Kindly I ask your attention.

Well, if you want to upload a video file of 15 minutes, you just can upload it. But when more time, you need to upgrade your limit.

And there are programs that can convert it to a size for Youtube and Game Recording software that might have the option here for.

I have to look on the net too and you could have a check at Youtube themselve, for more information about it. You never know.

When you go to www.Youtube.com and look at there FAQ's or just push Upload and you will find some links to go for too.

You're right 40GB is a huge file to attempt to upload. Is this an AVI file? You could try the following to re-encode/convert the files to another format such as H.264.

MPEG Streamclip: http://www.squared5.com/ If you choose this one you might also want to download the Quicktime Alternative (http://www.filehippo.com/download_quicktime_alternative/2615)

Handbrake: http://handbrake.fr/

Both are good, free, programs and may help you. I use both of them and can attest that even though they are free they don't have ads or any malware attached.

Thanks. Yeah I figured out I needed to compress the video file. Kind of forgot that step lol. Now the 40GB files are down to 1.5GB. Thanks anyways.
