Pet Surveillance Camera

Hi everyone,

I would like to monitor my dog during the workday. She stays in the kitchen before/after the dog walker comes. What would be the best way to monitor her?

Can I turn my laptop camera into a remote cam to access or should I buy a separate unit? My wireless router is not in the kitchen so any camera would have to be wifi. I can use my android phone or work PC (but I will not be able to install third party software). Hopefully, I could just visit a webpage and log-in etc.

I've found many units online around the $60 - $100 range that look to be sufficient but I wanted to check the forums first.

Hi Steve - the least expensive solution is a $40 D-Link DCS-930L. This camera is wireless (except for the power cord) and good for daytime/brightly lit situations. You can monitor it via an Android app called mydlink lite or on the web at mydlink.com

If you need to monitor your pet in low light or at night, you will want to step up to the $70 DCS-932L.
