Phantasy Star II - Completeness Question

I've been hunting around online for some Genesis games recently (most games
are super-cheap these days, even complete) and I have a question about what
constitutes a complete Phantasy Star II. Digital Press says the game
includes a map in addition to the usual manual and genesis games poster,
but I've seen a few online auctions mentioning that their copies do not
include the hintbook. I vaguely recall seeing a strategy guide for Phantasy
Star II at one point, but I can't remember much about it. Was this hint
book sold seperately, or did it ever get packaged along with the game?

Originally included as pack in hint book. I found 2 copies from when
Funcoland still had Genny boxes and all some years ago but they are
somewhat hard to find as they are thick and just don't fit inside the
case. Along with the hint book, poster (only one though) and manual
as well.

If the hint book is not included, then the PS II game is not complete
at all.

AFAIK hint book was also available for PS III as well but not as pack
in book.
