Philips Soundbar connecting to Vizio TV (and Sony BluRay)

I am attempting to set up my Philips Soundbar HTL3110B to my Vizio 55" 3D tv. It does NOT have HDMI ARC, so I am using Optical Digital cord. There is sound coming out of the subwoofer, but NOTHING out of the soundbar. I have tried every combination of sound set up on both the TV and the BluRay player with the same results.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is the volume of the bar itself on, it can be an issue of the product, else you could enjoy a long, mind-numbing talk to support or send it back saying it is faulty.
