Phone Won't Connect

I have a Galaxy S3, and am constantly listening to music. I went to put some more music on it the other day, and noticed it took forever for my computer to detect it was connected, then once connected it took forever for it to show the files on my computer. Once it finally showed the files, I pasted the song in my music folder. When I pasted it, it said that my phone had been disconnected. I've tried this several times and it wont correct itself. I don't believe its a problem with my phone, though. I've connected it to my laptop and it works fine. I could switch to my laptop, but I keep all of my media on my desktop. Any help would be greatly appreciated. (Ive already reinstalled drivers/ samsung kies)
