I read a 32-page support forum for RivaTuner over here (5th post down "pipe activation...") and I'll save you the time. Just wait for the newest version of RivaTuner to find out. Read it if you want, but make sure you read till the end. The guys in the forum make a claim of what will work and what won't but are corrected by the guy who makes RivaTuner, and told to just wait.

The only card that I have read is verfied to be unlockable is an MSI card, however the article I saw, even said that this does NOT mean that all MSI cards are like this.

So basically we are all kept in suspense waiting. So at this point, no one really knows.

this was posted on krazynutz site.

"Don't forget that 6800NU only has 2.8ns ram, so the max you can get is around ~800Mhz ram, compared to 1.1-1.2Ghz on the 6800GT."

what does that mean? is there ne way to change the amount of mhz of ram?

You can overclock the RAM (to gain mhz), but generally KrazyNutz is correct, with a 6800 NU card, even when overclocked you can generally only get about 800 mhz from the RAM.

My card will allow me to overclock up to the GT speeds, but only seems to run 800 mhz and still be stable. Anything higher than 800 mhz, and my benchmark scores go down.

Basically you can overclock/mod a 6800 NU, and get near GT performance, but in the end the GT is still going to be a better card (Afterall it does cost more). For me, I couldn't justify the price, so I go the NU, to you the performance may be worth more, so the GT may be a better choice

Actually, I love it when I'm right, but I never said that thing about the 800Mhz. What viper was referring to was the site I made a clicky to above. Someone in that forum made that statement, but was quickly corrected by those who seem to get their memory up over 900Mhz stable. So it's all luck of the draw, and your cooling. I can have mine at 850 without a problem, but 860 it no likey.

the magic of ebay my friend. With the VGA silencer on it and the XT bios, I sold it for $206 USD. My evga 6800 was only $283 USD. Subtract the beer/food I got from my friend for building a computer for her, I'd say I paid $50 USD for my new card. Not too shabby...and worth it. How's yours working these days? Guy I sold mine to loves it.
