play dvd with tv

I have vizio model E390-A1. I am trying to hook up LG blueray dvd player with HDMI. can't get it to work. can't find a channel to vied DVD. help?

plug in with hdmi to tv, press button called input on remote

The Blu-Ray does not play on a TV channel. It plays on a separate HDMI input. Change your video source, not the channel.
