I have cd's loads of them
I have a external HDD which I want to store all my music files on

Can it be linked to TV to play files?

If so how and what do I need

Thanks

You can use a Western Digital TV media box to do this. Connect to any TV and you are done. I would suggest ripping your CDs as lossless FLAC files. This way you maintain the same quality of sound. HD storage is cheap enough. You can always make lossy M3 from them if you need to. DB Poweramp can be configured to make both.
Hope you can eventually find something better than your TV to play your music on.

It depends on the TV. Many new TVs can play audio content directly from a USB connected HDD. Just check your owner's manual for compatible audio file types.

If you are unsure, just rip your CDs in mp3 format and test on your TV.
