And yet Crytek has also said, while they look "the same," that experts will be able to see differences. And lo and behold there are. e.g. the PS3 is rendering their GI hack at half resolution. Why? Because it is sloooow, so slow the only way to be competitive in performance was to cut quality. (See the CryEngine 3 PDFs for details). As for talking up versions, this is an important part of being a middleware distributor. The end product will tell the tale and I don't expect Crytek to be much different from other 3rd parties who have talked up their PS3 versions.

[citation][nom]LePhuronn[/nom]Yeah, but other than the Orange Box what other FPS games accept mouse-keyboard as input?[/citation]

Unreal Tournament 3

[citation][nom]ss78[/nom]I would gather it's the PS3's cell processor that is the culprit. The graphics chip on the PS3 was known to be slightly inferior to the Xbox360's but the cell processor was touted as extremely powerful when used to its full potential. It is certainly about time the PS3's cell showed its teeth but until both versions are completed, released and then compared/reviewed, we won't know for sure.[/citation]

Just to correct some of your statement, GPU on xbox360 is actually better than the ps3's, BUT if devs make use of the cell processor fully..this will be the other way round.

[citation][nom]cool1234[/nom]it's mouse and keyboard with a ATI 5670 video card it the only way to play!COnsole are for kids![/citation]

This really doesn't come as a surprise to me.[citation][nom]footsoldier[/nom]Just to correct some of your statement, GPU on xbox360 is actually better than the ps3's, BUT if devs make use of the cell processor fully..this will be the other way round.[/citation]

And I so totally agree with that. Cell-processing on the PS3 is the big advantage on the PS3 and, if correctly taken advantage of, can and will kick the Xbox 360's ass.

[citation][nom]sstym[/nom]I can't wait for rabid fanboys saying how 133t their console is and how dismal is. Ok, you bought a console. They are not cheap considered your buying power, so you want to comfort yourself by thinking you made the best choice. Comforting yourself includes talking trash about the other console, because obviously it makes yours look better. You'll probably get that there is no obvious wrong choice when you are finally 12. That makes me so glad I have a PC.[/citation]

your comment is irrelevant since no one has yet to come forward with negative remarks about neither consoles or PCs, it seems as if you're the one trying to instigate something...

I was not waiting for fanboy wars on this forum, jose. This particular piece of news is likely to make its way to other specific gaming sites (aggregated on n4g.com) where console wars is the norm. That is where I expect to see asinine comments, not here.
I apologize for the confusion.

Crytek does a great job, they work hard to get the most out of the platform. That pumps me up.

The PS3 still has a lot of untapped power, but the PC has more!

Lets see Crytek tap them both!

Better on PS3 blah blah blah, more power on PC blah blah blah.

Let's see the game run on a PC with specs that are comparable to a ps3 or xbox 360.

That is interesting, especially considering that the RSX in the PS3 more closely resembles a DX 9.0c part while the ATI Xenos is closer to a DX10 part with 24-bit (rather than 32-bit) shaders. Still, the PS3 has more number crunching and fill rate power. I wonder if we'll be able to tell the difference.

Eitherway, I'd rather use my PC with it's 5870 thank you very much.

This may very well be true. It will be interesting to see how the game runs on consoles once it is released. The consoles are aging, so obviously they won't look or run as good as consoles; however, I am still curious to see how this will all turn out.

I got the PS3 to play some of the exclusives. I happen to prefer the 360's controller over the PS3's. That alone will drive a lot of purchase decisions on multi-platform game. So far, no change in that plan...

i still think the first crysis looks better and was more fun than crysis warhead. anyone else???? i feel bad for the console people that missed out on the first half of the story

There is still quite a bit of untouched potential from the Cell processor. Once programmers learn to fully harness it, you will see superior geometry and physics on the PS3 at the same resolutions that the 360 can pump out.

If the PS3 is better then the Xbox 360 and it takes a game like this to prove it by the time all games are looking this good we'll have the next generation of consoles and won't care.

People always compare the consoles and the difference is really minimal between them in most cases. The only real jump in graphics will be from consoles to PC, not 360 to PS3

If you want to see the superiority of the PS3 over the Xbox 360 look no further than several of the PS3's exclusives, such as the most recent release God of War III. It's on joint releases that the PS3 is shackled by the 360. It's a pleasure that Crytek is willing to risk upsetting the 360 faithful and push the limits on the hardware. But then again that's what Crytek does.

One other thing. This completely baseless, unfounded rumor that the "PS3 has weaker graphics". This is nothing but wishful hearsay based on some "expert" techie boys that hopes to be a self fulfilling prophecy. Post some verifiable sources for this BS instead of repeating the same nonsense over and over again.
